To be Fully Prepared for Natural Disasters

According to the forecast of Hydro-meteorological Administration, the rainy season is expected to set in the DPRK one month earlier than the average this year due to El Niño.

To cope with this, the Red Cross Society of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea(DPRK RCS) is working actively to join national efforts for disaster management so as to protect the property of the country, society and the people and their life from floods and storms.

The DPRK RCS, in close cooperation with the relevant national institutions including the Ministry of Disaster Management and the Hydro-meteorological Administration, has taken some measures to be fully prepared for any emergency promptly.

The measures include the completion of the detailed standard operating procedures and emergency response plans.

In accordance with this, the DPRK RCS organized the simulation drills of national and provincial disaster response teams, and established emergency communication network between the headquarters and the branches in multiple layers for communication system on early warnings of floods and storms.

And the DPRK RCS keeps good maintenance of prepositioned emergency items at the disaster preparedness warehouses and vehicles in a responsible manner for immediate distribution to the target areas in times of emergency.
