Prerequisites for Saving and Protecting Lives
The surge of natural disasters in many parts of the world caused by the disaster-prone abnormal weather presents disaster risk management as an important task which permits not a single moment’s delay for all the countries.
To prevent natural disasters and improve risk management is for the DPRK government an important undertaking in ensuring the security and well-being of the people.
The DPRK government makes sure that the people’s power organs at all levels are fully prepared by giving priority to these tasks.
Disaster prevention is an important undertaking to protect the life and property of the people from all sorts of natural calamities, as well as a nationwide and all-people project which requires the mobilization of the entire people with a high awareness of crisis.
Giving precedence to the preparedness of human resources in disaster management, the Red Cross Society of the DPRK is organizing on a regular basis various trainings and simulations aimed at making the Red Cross branch staff and volunteers at all levels get familiar with the crisis response and standard operating procedures for different types of disasters.
The trained volunteers are engaged in teaching the communities on how to respond to crises and how to act in emergencies.
