To Cope with Sudden Onset of Crisis

The rainy season is expected to start earlier than the average this year. What’s worse, there are likely to be more severe disastrous natural calamities due to the impact of El Niño.

In this regard, the government organized emergency disaster crisis response teams at all levels and takes measures for the teams to fulfill their duties.

Under the unified guidance of the national risk management commission, the emergency response teams at all levels are taking all necessary measures in order to make their respective sectors and areas remain unaffected by any disastrous climate.

They are doing their best to identify all areas and factors with potential danger and taking emergency actions. They are making sure that rescue teams and vehicles, medical teams and ambulances etc are on standby for emergency.

The Red Cross Society, an auxiliary body to the DPRK government, is also effectively preparing its human and material resources to ensure timely and effective response against sudden onset of different crisis.

All the branches conduct trainings and exchange of experiences in several ways in order to raise the crisis-related awareness and response capacity of the RCS officials and volunteers. And simulations and practical exercises are organized according to their specific condition so that the volunteers can reliably carry out their task specified in the standard operational procedure.

At the same time, they review the prepositioned stock of rescue equipment and relief materials, and replenish them if necessary according to their geographical characteristics and needs.
